Robert Pattinson: At ease and a little weird on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

When I read this Entertainment Weekly post about how weird Robert Pattinson’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel was last night, I thought, “Really? How weird could it be?”

Well, to writer Hillary Busis’s credit, it is definitely a little wacky, particularly in light of Pattinson’s more staid media appearances during Robert Pattinson Week.

Among the things we learn from this interview:Pattinson claims that he lives in a trash can behind an archway, which is apparently the 2012 equivalent of living in a van down by the river and/or bunking at Reese Witherspoon’s house; he is an avid craigslist shopper; and, for a brief period, he inadvertently wore Spandex bike shorts to what he characterizes as a “dogging spot.”

Three points about this interview, which you can watch below.

1. Pattinson seems much more at ease and funny in this interview than he did during last week’s flurry of appearances, which is refreshing.

2. Kimmel, like Jon Stewart and George Stephanopolous before him, also did not mention Kristen Stewart. Which I still think is a missed opportunity (I stand by this previous blog post, darn it!); given how comfortable he feels with Kimmel, this would have been a perfect moment for Pattinson to address the cheating scandal with Hugh Grant-esque self-deprecating humor and then moved on. (I know, I know — it’s no one’s business.)

3. Kimmel’s ease with interviewing celebs like Pattinson is, arguably, more proof that he’ll be formidable in his new 11:35 time slot.

Here are all three parts of the interview:
